Panglima Power Station
Kuala Sungai Baru, Malacca
Project Description: | |
Extensive remedial works were carried out during construction phase of the reticulated seawater cooling system for this oil fired power plant. Extending to a depth of 15 meters beneath the pump house (seen in the right hand foreground of the main picture below) and within the water inlet and outlet chambers, over 60 tie bolt holes were repaired and approx. 500 lineal meters of crack repairs were carried out using XYPEX Concentrate and XYPEX Patch ’N Plug, while approx. 240 square meters of surface defects were attended to, to give internal surfaces a smooth, low drag finish. Upon completion of repairs, the entire internal surfaces (5,100m2) were treated with the XYPEX Concentrate and Modified Two-Coat system, to protect the concrete and enhance its durability, given that the huge volumes of seawater passing through the facility would be sand laden on the inlet side, heated on the outlet side and turbulent through both phases. The XYPEX works were substantially completed during mid 2002. |
